Hands-Free Autoinjector
A skin-adhered injection device concept designed to carry out the injection automatically once it has been activated — so the user does not need to hold the device in place while the dose is delivered.
Design concept
The device is applied to the skin, activated, and then completes its injection sequence on its own: needle insertion, drug delivery, completion feedback and needle retraction.
Key features
- Skin-adhered device design
- Hands-free operation after activation
- Automatic injection sequence
- Needle insertion and retraction concept
- Completion feedback to indicate the end of the injection
- Mechanical injection mechanism
Development status. The Hands-Free Autoinjector is a device concept in development. It is not approved, certified or commercially available.
User interaction concept.
The interaction concept aims to reduce the number of steps the user has to manage: place the device, activate it, wait for the completion signal, then remove it. The final user steps will be defined through usability engineering and the device’s approved instructions for use.
Place
Apply the device to the injection site.
Activate
Start the injection with a single activation step.
Wait for the signal
The device completes the injection and indicates when it is done.
Remove
Remove the device once the needle has retracted.
Conceptual overview. This sequence describes the device concept for information only. It is not a substitute for approved instructions for use, and the final steps may change as development progresses.
Specifications.
Quantitative figures — volume, duration, needle and dimensions — are published once verified.

Wearable Bolus Injector
A wearable injection-device concept intended for subcutaneous drug delivery. The device is worn on the body during the injection, removing the need to hold an injector in position.
